All the Italianate goodies that you could possibly want are here – iconic staircase, tall windows with shutters and marble mantels. Is that a magnolia tree in the second pic?

Growing up, one of my close friends lived in a house that was almost identical to this one. I loved it then and I love it now!

I lived in J’ville for several years during the early 80’s and drove through the town again this past summer. College Avenue boasts many majestic homes similar to this one. Illinois College and MacMurray College are located in town. Chicago is several hours’ drive North and St. Louis seems less than two hours South. Interstate next to town. If one isn’t concerned about the tax level situations in Illinois, then go for it!

    The house is amazing!

I’m wondering if the columns on the front porch are right? Could the porch have been altered. I was expecting them to look more the columns on the side porches.

This beautiful home is located in the historic district on one of the finest streets in town. It’s just a few blocks from our bed and breakfast, so I pass it all the time.

Hopefully there’s walnut trim under that white paint, maybe a few dusty, gilded over-mantel mirrors in the basement? I like that side porch millwork, feels slightly gothic.
