Specially selected historic real estate for old house enthusiasts.

FAQ / Contact

What is Old House Dreams about? Old House Dreams (OHD) are for those who appreciate the character and charm of vintage homes with distinctive or interesting architectural features. Properties featured on OHD are chosen specifically for their original features and history. From Queen Anne’s needing complete restoration to move-in-ready Craftsman homes, OHD covers a range of styles from the Colonial Era to the Mid-Century.

OHD does not represent any of the homes featured; rather, it serves as a platform to showcase the “best of” historic homes and properties. Should you find a property of interest, the agent’s details can be found on the home’s post page.

Want your home removed? Everyone has different preferences and priorities regarding their home. While many homeowners enjoy sharing their restoration and historical information with our community, we also respect those who may prefer to keep their property more private. I’m happy to oblige if you want your home removed from this site. Enter your address in the contact form below with your request.

Newsletter…

How do I subscribe so I won’t miss a post?
Sign up for the newsletter! You can find the sign-up on the right side of the home page. Or click here for the 3 day a week newsletter for an email every three days instead daily.

Can you send me houses in X state or for X price?
Sorry, the newsletter cannot be set up that way.

“I’d like my home featured on OHD.” “I want to share my listing/home on your Facebook page.”

Due to the high volume of submissions, I’ve created a special weekly post called “House Shares & Chit Chat,” where you can share your property. Please note that I’m unable to respond to submissions via this page. A quick heads up – on Fridays between 12am EST to 12pm EST, the house share post may not appear on the front page. Thanks for understanding, and we look forward to seeing your submission on the weekly House Shares & Chit Chat post.

Where and how to share…

You must register to leave your share/comment: register link.:

1) Visit the home page, click on the photo/box that says “House Shares & Chit CHat”.

2) Read the submission instructions, afterward click the “Click here to jump to comment box.”.

3) See the comment box? Paste your link (need instructions finding a link/url?) in the comment box. Include the build date, price and city/state with your link. Hit “Post Comment” when ready to submit your comment/share. How will you know if your home will appear on the site? You won’t unless you see it in it’s own post.

Registration & Supporter Status

I’m an OHD Supporter, why is my comment not highlighted?
If you registered after becoming an OHD Supporter and don’t see your badge/comment highlight, send me a message and I’ll update your account. Note that receiving the newsletter is not the same as being registered. Thanks for your support!

I’m signed up for the newsletter but can’t sign into my OHD account.
Signing up for the newsletter doesn’t mean you have an OHD account. If you’ve never gone through the registration page it means you don’t have an OHD account.

How do I register on OHD? Does it cost anything?
Click here to register on OHD. No fees to register, emails are kept private. You must login once a year to keep your account active.

Why and How…

What happened to my home? I’m getting a “not found” page.
A 404 page may mean the post has been moved to a different link location. If you’re having trouble accessing your home’s post page, use the contact form with the address.

How do I search by state or only show homes for sale?
For computer and most tablet users, look on the right-hand side of the home page for the drop-downs that allow you to choose status, state, style, etc. If you don’t have a right sidebar, you can either scroll down to find the browse area, click the hidden menu at the top, or click on “Search”.

Your post doesn’t match the listing status on other sites.
This site is not a real estate site hooked into any database. Price, status, and other listing details may not be as up-to-date as the agency or other sites. Listing details are checked every 48 hours, but I recommend verifying yourself by checking the agency site.

My comment never appeared!
OHD is strict about comments. Read the Comment Policy.

What does “National Register” mean?
We often get questions about whether owning a home on the National Register means that you can’t make changes without going through a lengthy approval process. However, there’s more to it than that! Check out the National Park Service’s website for more information on what it means to be on the National Register. Thanks for your interest in historic homes!
