Here is your chance to own a piece of POWHATAN HISTORY! Let your imagination run wild w/ this 33 acre property centrally located at the corner of Anderson Highway & Red Lane. The original home on the property was built in 1749 & was used as a Tavern! This home was considered a "One room deep house" when it was first built. Several generations of families have added to the property to make it what you see today. You will find 2 rooms on the first floor, as well as 2 rooms w/ dormers on the second floor. The full basement still has the original hand hewn beams supporting the home, it has a poured concrete floor & the walls are lined with brick. The most recent owners added the small side porch. Original brick can be found throughout the home. Many meals were had gathered around the fireplaces & stories were told on the porches. Stories span from the moonshiners that hid their stills amongst the 33 acres. The barn was a shelter & production building for the moonshiners. A picture of the plat that was copied from January 18th, 1876 is available to see. In addition to the original home, there is a barn w/ hand hewn hickory beams as well as a manufactured home.
