Are you a fan of historic properties? What about a 180 year old farm that’s been continuously inhabited? It’s incredible to think that almost two centuries of life passed by these doors. From the grit of the original county settlers, to the excited wagon trainers heading west, to the sorrow of the Civil War, the joy of emancipation, back to the sorrow of the Great Depression where some of the original holdings were forced sold off. The original log home on the property was built around 1838, right after the founding of the county. The stately brick home was added about 1858. The adjacent property still contains the remnants of the brick kiln used in building this pre-Civil War manor. Inside you’ll find a total of 4 bedrooms, 2 on the lower level and 2 on the upper level. The lower level also includes the kitchen with enough room for a dining table, living room with fireplace and a second adjacent sitting area. The downstairs full bath is accessible from the hall or the master bedroom. Up the lovely curving staircase, there is a large landing with two bedrooms on either side. One bedroom includes a half bath. The outbuildings are phenomenal, especially the turn of the century barn where the stone basement resonates with history. There is also a small “cottage” and large machine shed, both with electricity. The property includes 5 acres with a generous amount of timber. The property would make a fabulous Airbnb or event venue - it is located just outside Lake Viking! For the history buffs, the Koger family patriarch, James, settled the farm in 1838. The farm then passed to his son Joseph in 1857 and grandson William thereafter. William resided on the property until approximately 1933, when it finally passed out of the family. Since that time, only three other families have had the pleasure of owning this history-rich ground. To recap, in 180 years, this property has only been owned by a total of 4 families! Is it your turn next?
