2649 River John Station Rd, River John, Nova Scotia B0K 1N0

This heritage home is one of the oldest in the area. Built in 1899 by Dr. Murray for his family and business, it has been a homestead since that time. The history is steep and the home is beautiful, built to last, solid and sitting on a stone foundation. The main floor has a vestibule, and front hallway that leads to a formal parlor, with separate living room and dining room. The country kitchen is modernized and has a large pantry. There is a recreation room, lovingly called the 'Salty Dog' which is an annex at the back of the house off the kitchen. This room also has patio doors and has a wood stove to keep you comfortable while entertaining or playing family games. Upstairs you will find five bedrooms and a full bath, with a walk up attic which could easily be finished as additional living space. The home has original hardwood and softwood floors with birds eye maple staircase and trim and original crown moldings. There is a comfortable feeling from the minute you walk in the door. The barn has two sections, perhaps one for woodworking or storage and the other has a concrete floor ready for your small vehicle or toys. There is a large yard, partially fenced for your furry friends and mature trees and flower gardens. All this and just minutes to sandy beaches, shopping and amenities in Tatamagouche! Lots to say and lots to see, it's best to book an appointment to fully appreciate the beauty of this historic home!
