Packed with lots of history, this plantation house remains one of Irwinville's most prominent landmarks.It was built by Judge Reuben Walton Clements after the Civil War. Clements served as a Lieutenant, Irwin County Volunteers and the 49th Georgia Infantry. He owned the land on which Jefferson Davis along with other members of the Confederate high command were captured by troops. Clements was also involved in writing the book History of Irwin County . This historic home, known as the Big House is for sale with just over 5000 sq ft, bedrooms and bathrooms up and downstairs, large open rooms and kitchen along with columned porches upstairs and down.
