Build date on record is 1880 but this is probably a bit older than that.

Quite a bit older – it was on the 1858 map of Bath. The home of David Crooker “D.C.” Magoun (1791-1872), ship owner, merchant and banker. When Bath was formed into a city in 1848, he was the first mayor.

That is some awesomely amazing soot staining all over the place.

  5. I am quite happy that the realtor didn’t simply write this off as a tear down!

Lots of work to do, but there’s lots to work with. I’d love to build a kitchen around that stove!

But for some window repair, tweaks in the kitchen, and general clean-up, I’d start moving in today. Make sure foundation and main roof are up to par, get the garage stabilized long enough to decide what to do with it, have some (wood) storm windows made and installed, and finesse the rest over time. This kind of place speaks to me, and I’m not sure I’ll want to see the “after”, but if there is a God, please, please, don’t let anyone trash those windows…!

The two sections to the right appear strongly mid-19th century Greek Revival. Maybe the left sections are a later addition.
