Wow!
A whole house comes with that staircase!
I’m right there with you, Ross! One look at those curves and I didn’t need to scroll any further!

Besides the jaw dropping staircase, those are some of the most unique bathrooms I’ve ever seen
yeah, right? The toilet kittycorner to the tub was interesting. Over all, I love this house, but the taxes…yikes.
Langeais, Loire Valley,
This toilet made me think of a spite house. Is spite toilet a concept too? 😀
I want to sit on that chair at the top of those stairs and read. And in the bath in the yellow bathroom too! ?

The staircase is a work of art in itself!
I have no idea what the area is like but it seems like a great buy for the size of the house and the condition it looks to be in.

Wow. So much for such a good price. Really nice.
Wonderful

That staircase says it all! Beautiful home!

Enviable house. Outstanding bay. Want!
I was ready to buy it from one photo of the exterior. The inside did not disappoint!
Talk about Stairway to Heaven!

What a beautiful and intriguing house. It would be a fun challenge to figure out how to make the two room kitchen more functional without altering the footprint – i.e., keeping the walls and staircase in place… Plus two acres and a barn – what a deal!
The taxes are a bit scary, though. What’s up with that? If it’s assessed now at $55,000, assuming it sells for three times that, that’ll be a pretty steep tax bill – far beyond what we see here in my part of New York…
Absolutely beautiful, inside and out! And a great part of the state to live in. Totally in love with the whole package.
So elegant, and so beautifully furnished! And those bathrooms are really unique! I don’t usually go for Italianates, but I’d be very happy in this one!

Just a little piece of heaven. I wish the pictures were better so you could see more of the house. As for taxes, for me they are perfect since I am looking at houses with 500 and above per month.

Well, correct me if I’m wrong, but as I understand it, the assessed value on this house is currently $55,731. The annual taxes on that assessed value are $5880. Assuming the house sells for roughly three times its current assessed value – say $167,000 – (and this information is conveyed to the property tax service), wouldn’t that result in an equivalent increase in the property tax – i.e., to approximately $17,600 per year?
This house is listed at basically the value of the house in which I currently live-a tract 4 bedroom , 2-1/2 bath colonial built in the 1970’s. My taxes on it are almost exactly the same amount as this GORGEOUS italianate with that unbelievable front staircase. I would MUCH rather live in the italianate for the same $$$$$!

As everyone else has mentioned, the staircase in this house is phenomenal. Otherwise, it’s a nice Italianate style home but the grand staircase puts it in a different category. As for taxes, Illinois is second behind the Garden State (NJ) as the state with the highest property taxes. But from years of watching Illinois listings, never assume anything; I’ve seen a few IL examples with surprisingly affordable taxes.
