416 B Ave E, Oskaloosa, IA 52577

Welcome to the Logan House, a magnificent part of Oskaloosa's famed history. This home was constructed in 1915, with remnants of the original 1871 structure used in the design. You will be amazed the minute you arrive and be immediately transported back in time. Be welcomed by an amazing winding brick driveway, that curves its way through the property that is abundant with mature shade trees and shrubs. The old carriage house, now converted to the two-car garage, sits proudly in the corner of the property. A large porch draws you into the stately home, that oozes with charm. Immediately inside is the formal dining room, with saucer ceiling (this area is wired for a new chandelier). Adjacent is the updated kitchen with copper lighting and sink. The appliances will convey. A large formal living room with original brick fireplace has been fitted with a natural gas stove. Cross through the foyer to Frederic's music room, used recently as the family room. This room is special because of the curved ceilings, designed for better acoustics as he was composing his masterpieces. French doors lead you from the piano room to the main floor sunroom. Also on the main level are the pantry, main floor bath with claw foot tub, and laundry room. Noteworthy items on the main level are original windows, some stained glass... and all original woodwork and hardware remain. Now enter the foyer to headupstairs and notice the original 1871 entryway (front door and windows) and the 1915 inspired grand stairway with original cherub statue to show you the way. On the landing of the stairs on your way up is the original bath, and large dressing mirror. Once upstairs there are three unique bedrooms, two have walk-in closets, and one has beautiful built-ins with the sunroom that overlooks the gorgeous property. There is a jack and jill full bath. The upstairs landing would be great office space. Rest assured this property remains in character, but has all the important updates needed; plumbing, electrical, roof, and HVAC. Frederic Knight Logan was born in Oskaloosa, and later moved back to his hometown to build this property and compose his music. He is best known for his composition Missouri Waltz and Iowa, Proud Iowa. This home quickly became the music center of Oskaloosa. As a personal residence, bed and breakfast, or air B&B this property has versatility for the new owner. Call today to tour this amazing piece of history. Pre-qualified buyers only please.
