Serving as the town school until the 1960s, the school house has since been converted to a stylish open-concept residence with 12' ceilings, modern chef's kitchen, walk-in pantry, and large master-suite with office and laundry area. The second floor has a 1,000 SF family room open space that could be further divided or perfect for a studio or craft space, along with two bedrooms and a kitchenette. Numerous historical touches and period heirlooms pay homage to the rich history of the residence. Pellet stove in the great room, new roof, full house automatic generator & two-car garage with heated workshop make this a comfortable and low-maintenance residence for the fortunate buyer interested in living in this inspiring and unique residence.

I love this one! I can see doing something with the ceilings otherwise wouldn’t change a thing. Can I buy their stuff too? 🙂

WOW! The aerial shots are great! The interior design is creative and respectful of the building’s history! Another OHD home to fall in love with!

I love this! I went to a school very much like this one in a small town in Iowa back in the 70’s. The woodwork, details are bringing me back to 8th Grade! Unfortunately it was torn down a few years ago. Such a shame.

Love that last photo of all that comfy furniture looking up at the chalkboard. Looks like a great place to have an interesting conversation with good company.

Wow. I wish we had pictures of where that metal staircase goes. The wooden hangers on the bathroom wall are a neat decorating idea. I could suffer through living here😂

This treasure is in a lovely area of Maine. Busy in the summer and quiet picturesque winters. Albeit cold. It is 0 degrees hear and 10 degrees there. Being close to the water helps.

I’m so very jealous of that craft room! It’s just perfect!

I love the ceilings! It probably had the ugly suspended ceiling in the latter years of being a school and when they removed that, I imagine this is what they found! – I may be totally wrong, but I like to think this is what happened! The details are updated, but still keep the original school setting in place. Love the wide main staircase. Wouldn’t change a thing (except make the craft room my sewing studio!)

Awesome! Wonder what’s under those ceiling tiles?? I love the studio. For a big old school conversion, they did a most creative job.

Fascinating — I love looking at all their collections and interesting decor. I have to believe that the people who live here are intelligent and multi-talented and would be fascinating to talk with and know. Very eclectic but wonderful use of this property melding the old and the new.

Love the way they’ve displayed photos above the headboard using old clipboards. Such great use of random items, many school-related, throughout the home. Brilliant.

This decor is fabulous! Repurposed buildings always feel kinda cold and cavernous to me but not this one. Love it!

This looks like it’s straight out of a Restoration Hardware or Schoolhouse Electric catalog. I love that they kept the school theme going throughout the house, without it being over the top. And the ceilings were one of the first things I noticed. They need some bead-board or pressed tin.

LOVE this! Like so many comments said, I’d see about replacing some of the ceilings. That craft room is to die for! Wonder if they’d leave it all with the sale?? 🙂
I can imagine walking along the water and seeing all the boats and maybe getting lunch at a “seaside cafe”. Darn it Kelly! Why do you post such wonderful places!!?? (Love it that you DO, Kelly)

I wasn’t expecting the interior, which is amazing! They need to include the furnishings in the sale, because they live with this house! That kitchen is so inviting. Brrrr. Cold. But fantastic in warmer weather!

I wish MY sewing room was like this one! So roomy and ORGANIZED! As Kelly put it in earlier posts… Maine always delivers!
