    1885 Italianate.

Cool thang… I like it’s little brother across the street also.

Oh wow, funny to see this here but I live a couple houses down the street from this old mill. It used to be used as an antique shop. Pretty much my whole childhood it was an antique shop. And then a policeman lived there for awhile. And then it stood vacant for a really long time which was super sad. It sits on a really sharp corner and I wonder if that’s why it had a hard time selling it. Also, the creek there floods all the time. I know it’s flooded the mill quite a few times because the water has reached all the way to the road. The water has gone far above that little bridge there in the last picture.

So anyway, it stood vacant for awhile and then we saw someone was (finally) fixing it up and we all became super hopeful that they’d turn it back into a shop again or something along those lines….but now they’ve stopped in like the middle of everything and just left it. So I don’t know what’s going on with it now.

It’s such a huge landmark of Strasburg so I certainly hope somebody with some money and good intentions comes around to make the old mill nice again.

You can definitely see a flood line. It looks like it doesn’t go up very far, though. You can see it on the first and second picture over that built-in brick archway wall. You see there is a perfect line of moss.

So many possibilties, first on list though would be how to prevent building from flooding. Very cool building!

I like this. Too bad it floods. From the looks of things, I don’t know if anything could be done about that. I doubt the city/township will want to do anything to help with the creek. I am a sucker for stone buildings and this mill is great. Could be fixed up so nicely.

We’ve been going to Strasburg for years for a family reunion and to ride the steam train. The town is a wonderful place and this mill has been one of our sights to see each time. Love PA stone buildings!

Remarkable building! Would look beautiful in the snow!
