Wow. What a beauty and an easy fix as far as pictures go.

I see mostly cosmetic upgrades needed but really she’s a beauty in waiting. I hope she find s true love with someone who respects her roots. Absolutely love old stone houses because they stand the test of time.

I’d love to rip up that carpet and see what’s underneath!

Looks like a late Queen Anne morphing into the familiar Foursquare form. Stylistically, the interior is kind of bland so I’m not sure what style of decor would work best here.

love the stone fireplaces. just getting rid of the carpet and refinishing floors would do wonders.

Is there ever owner financing on old Victorians?

So true as Kelly noted, but if an old Victorian needs work no bank would likely touch a century plus old fixer upper. There are HUD 203K loans which some lenders participate in. But such renovation loans are not preservation friendly, often require all work to be done by licensed contractors, and usually means all windows have to be replaced with energy efficient versions.

Private mortgages between the buyer and seller are sometimes possible but have an attorney familiar with real estate law look it over to make sure there are no “gotcha!” clauses. They may also require a higher down payment and a waiver of all buyer inspections, in other words, you buy it as is. Typical payback periods are 10-15 years sometimes with a balloon payment at the end. We had a private mortgage with the estate sellers for 10 years and with a balloon payment at the end equal to seven months of mortgage payments. Of course, since we knew this years in advance we had budgeted for it. It was nice to have a fully paid for house in 10 years while with a conventional 30 year mortgage it would have only be paid off in 2019. Make sure there is no pre-payment penalty for early payoff. Good luck!

I would love to be the savior of this lovely place. So much potential! I just love a solid house like this.

I wonder what the floors look like under all that carpet. The kitchen is peculiar, at least the one photo of the kitchen is odd. It looks like cabinets piled in randomly, they don’t seem to align well, and the layout is strange. Also, what kind of counter tops are they?

Beautiful from the outside! I agree with the other people that the carpet needs to go. I’m surprised the inside is so plain but that is nice because there is less to correct; the kitchen being one place that needs attention. Great price too.
