Not sure what “substandart building” is. I did not post this home because of this but a scene in “Breaking Bad” was filmed here. The Jesse/ATM scene, link to video, not good quality and if you don’t like violence, don’t watch. Article

What a gem is hidden inside the boards!

I think Substandard just refers to overall condition and lack of updates in the house.

This doesn’t look like one of the worst areas of Albuquerque, and there’s a fairly high owner-occupancy rate here. Good old bungalow to fix up with some nice Craftsman details inside.

I think I fell in love when I saw the ceiling fixture in the living room. There is a gem here waiting to be uncovered. Aerial views show that at nearly a quarter acre, the lot is HUGE compared to its neighbors (as is the house itself). There’s even a cute little garage in the back yard (little being the important word – I’m not sure modern vehicles would fit in there).
I’m sure the HVAC, plumbing, and wiring all need replacing – which is probably why it’s listed as “substandard”. As does the roof (I love the shingles on it now – wonder if you can still find them?), but with some elbow-grease (and money), this house could be a real show place.

I work just a few minutes from this area. The majority of this neighborhood has beautiful homes, although a lot of them have been turned into law offices. It is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the Albuquerque area. Side note: They use a lot of these homes in filming, one around the corner on 12th street has been in the show In Plain Sight as well as Breaking Bad.

That’s funny, before I even read Kelly’s comment I thought, “This house would have been great in Breaking Bad.” Totally didn’t recognize it but it fits.

Nice Arts & Crafts interior details here that might be enhanced with some authentic Craftsman colors and TLC. The exterior looks Eclectic in design with Classical Revival and Craftsman Bungalow details. “Substandard” is a City code enforcement term for a house not up to code so rehabbing this house will require an outlay. Not a house to try to cut corners for a cheap flip as its already on the City’s Building Department’s “radar screen” and any rehab will require pulling permits and city inspections. There are probably not many unrestored period homes like this one remaining in Albuquerque.
