Duluth MN is truly a gorgeous place to live, and to hang out in, & to travel around – gorgeous scenery (it’s right on and/or near to Lake Superior – perhaps you’ve heard Gordon Lightfoot’s song “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald” about a terrible shipwreck that occurred on Lake Superior?? When the wind blows hard over LS the waves can be as tall and rough as on the sea). There are numerous beautiful state parks nearby, incredible bike trail options all over the Duluth, and they have a great arts & music scene, and restaurants – it’s a popular MN tourist attraction in the summer especially. Plus – Duluth has a bunch of folks who are very committed to historic preservation; the Congden Mansion is also in Duluth, now owned & maintained by the U of MN – a gorgeous gorgeous place – check it out online – it’s one of my all time favorites.
However, the winters aren’t for the faint of heart! (It’s often warmer there than where I live in northern MN, though.) 🙂

How strange you mention that song. I had a dear friend who was on that ship but the amazing part was his wife went into early labor and he had to take leave to be at the hospital. He was to ship out on that from Cleveland the baby saved his life his name was Chris Lofin

I love the fact that the current owners haven’t covered up the hardwood floors. They look to be in nice condition as well.

Why does this house have to be in MN? I love everything about it. Dark wood, sunroom, library, …The fact that it looks like the family have loved and lived in it for many years. Fabulous!

Yumpin’ Yimminy!!! What a great house. And it is only 500 miles due north of Chicago…

Put ice cubes in your socks to keep your toes warm in January…

We lived in Minneapolis for 4 years while my husband attended UofM. Being Arizona kids we weren’t prepared for the winters. While it is a pretty place, the most fabulous house there wouldn’t make me want to go back.

What a great house. In an other state I would leap at it.

Sandra’s right about Duluth. I would hate driving there in the winter though – lots of hills. This house is in a nice area – older homes and a pleasant neighborhood, not very far from the lake.
