Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Love old houses with a lot of greenery around them, even if you have to hack some of it away…

Oh my. This house is stunning. WANT. I might have to try and find this house somewhere else on the interwebs to try and find more pictures though.

It also gets bonus points for being in Wyoming, IA. I adore places with fun names like that. “Where do you live?” “Wyoming. Iowa.” “Wait, which one?”

We definitely need to see more pics of the interior and find out if there
have been any updates to the plumbing, heating, etc.

Thats funny !!!! Another beautiful house in iowa. Like how they don’t change everything all the time there. Nice to think of modern technology being forgotten all about. Maybe we could then reconnect face to face although in some of these parts I wonder if they are any faces to see ???

It looks like a beautiful house but it’s hard to get the whole picture with it hiding behind the bushes!

The listing repeats the frequently heard mantra of “so much potential” but here I tend to agree. At this low price which is less than one third the price of a new starter home you’ll get some nice period details and a house exterior that if it were painted in period colors could be far more appealing visually. But the location is the real sticky issue here. Wyoming, Iowa is almost exactly 40 miles from Cedar Rapids and looks to be about the same distance to Dubuque, Iowa. Wyoming’s population is a tiny 515 so there’s little doubt any newcomers with a pleasant personality would be very welcome. This nice period home is similar to the fine 1906 house in Plymouth, Illinois priced at $29,900 https://www.oldhousedreams.com/2015/07/24/1906-plymouth-il/ but it’s probably worth considerably more in a larger community. Old houses like these dot the small town landscape across the Midwest and can be found generally across the U.S. as small town economies have changed. Most of them were dependent on family farming which has largely given way to much larger corporate farms that often do not bring much business to nearby small towns. Others had a local single industry factory that when closed broke the economic backbone of the community. I don’t have answers to these logistical and economic problems of modern times and small towns. That said, if you are comfortable with the idea of small town living with all that implies, then this house looks promising.

Beautiful but need more pictures for internet shoppers…. Also would be great to have an illustration of the layout of the floors and rooms and property lines for those who will not visit in person…..l I think today people shop through the Internet and need to see much more in pictures and average cost of utilities for the home… I love this site it’s so exciting to see the homes for sale ….maybe one day I will get to own another one 🙂
