seems like a good price and everything has a nice coat of paint inside,
but needing wiring can be a big mess in those newly painted walls.

Seems like a simple design with plain details but the real pleasant surprise is: its priced under $100k; it is a 4,000 sq. foot house on Five acres, and best, property taxes are well under a thousand a year. I think this combination puts this house solidly in bargain territory. I thought it looked older than 1876 and then noticed in the listing “Antebellum home”. The Colonial Revival entry with the elliptical paned side lights and central doorway appear to be from around 1900 while the other entry shown by another staircase does look pre-Civil War. If it were mine, I’d be tempted to take out the later changes and restore it back to its original appearance which might be from the 1830’s to 1840’s. Interesting house.

I just spoke to Kasey, the agent on this house. She had said that it was bought 4 months ago from a foreclosure. The wiring had been cut underneath the house and the HVAC had been removed. IMOP, it could use about $70K to bring it back to where it should be….

Yeah, did some looking yesterday (after my heart jumped from my chest at the pictures), and it was sold out of foreclosure less than 6 months ago when it was listed at $49,900. So looks like someone has done some painting and cleaning and is looking to double their money. Wish to heaven I had seen it at that price (and can’t imagine why I didn’t as she kicks herself).
That county has had a 22% decline in population, so am not sure the new price is any more salable. In my head my family is already drinking mint juleps on the veranda and I have roses planted everywhere. The trees in front of the house all appear to have been planted in a grid so wondered if they might be nuts or fruits?? Fabulous house, Ms Kelly.

If you are willing to move in and stay for a couple decades this is totally worth it. Not a house you will fix up and flip. But once you got it and set down on the porch why would you ever want to leave?

Oh yes I would have large family picnics, play horse shoes, croquet, and enjoy living a grand life here. 🙂
