This early mill is located on Minsi Trail and backs up to Swenks Mill road. The mill was called Swenk's Grist Mill. The original mill was built April 8, 1749 and had many names including Yost's Mill as it changed ownership. It was marked on George Washington's battlefield map of Bethlehem Road (used from 1775-1782) so it has an interesting history. The building has thick stone exterior still intact after 250+ years and has many potentials for restoration. Portions of the waterwheel can still be seen in the basement. Bring your imagination, flashlight, boots (if ground is wet), client or colleague to walk the property and building with you. The building has no working systems or lights so come during daylight hours so that you can see where you are walking and be very careful. However, if you enjoy walking through history, the risk is worth it.
