“Dear Daughter, I am here with Frijntje in the hospital. You will, I think, already have received Keeke’s letter, and now I can imagine your worry. I will write to you briefly to say that the doctor says things are reasonably good. It seems fine. She can already move a little again, and she is also getting some food. I am staying here with Tieter Dijkstra’s wife, taking meals there and doing what one does, what a person goes through and experiences, but that is nothing if only she gets better again. In a few days I will write to you again, hoping gladly. Mother (her name)”
