On May 2, 1792, the Dutch Reformed Church at Tiossiook was founded. The many Dutch families in the area organized and the Church in the Woods was opened in 1823. This remarkable church has been functioning in its original purpose except for a few years when it was held privately. In 2006, the Church was purchasd from private owner by the NY Conference Association of Seventh Day Adventists and it has maintained stewardship.
