222 W McLane St, Osceola, IA 50213
This home with its distinctively ornate architecture designed by the famous George F. Barber is by far one of Osceola's most famous landmarks. It is in the National registry of Historic homes and has been featured in HGTV magazine. Painted with incredible detail, it features intricate gingerbread trim, a cupola, porches, stained glass, and a balcony porch swing that is just perfect. The interior is just as dynamic, and it encompasses such things like the front staircase, which is tooled oak and a rear enclosed servant's staircase, the three fireplaces, pocket doors, butler's pantry, and front parlor, clawfoot tub!!! The list is long and tantalizing! The current owners remodeled the kitchen to include: a walk-in pantry, cherry cabinetry with granite countertops, updated appliances and an custom made stove from Elmira Stoveworks. There is a full useable basement with a walkout and rear patio. The walk-up attic offers further recreation and storage. Furnished apt above the garage.
