119 E Chestnut St, Lincolnton, NC 28092
Michael Hoke built this house in 1835, and his original hardwood floors still stop the show, as does the rest of this lovely historic home. It is the only example of an H-style Greek Revival plan from the 19th century in Lincoln County. Located in the heart of Downtown Lincolnton, two blocks from the iconic Court Square, shops, restaurants, and the charming business district, the house needs a kitchen and bath refresh but retains a good deal of its original features such as pine floors, fluted window and door surrounds, original windows, and eight fireplaces. The birthplace of Major General Robert F. Hoke, son of Michael Hoke, it represents a grand opportunity to restore an architecturally significant piece of Lincoln County history. The house is under protective covenants with Preservation North Carolina. Sample agreements attached in media section. House was built on corner of N Aspen and E Chestnut and moved one lot east to present location in 1947.
