This 1 story hip-roofed Federal/Greek Revival style house consists of an original T-plan of 2 front rooms arranged about a center hall.Early shed-roofed additions filled in the space on either side. The house retains plain wood weatherboards, & 9 over 9 sash wood windows.The P.E. Hervey House is on the State & National Registry of Historic Homes. Built in the mid 1850's, it has 12' ceilings, 2 br's w/ fireplaces, kitchen, laundry room, DR with fp, large entry and sitting room. The side porch leads to the bathroom.The .75 acre lot goes from Dobbs Street to Highway 301.The historical sign in the yard shows its' place on the historical tour at one time.There are a few radiant wall heaters, but there is no heat/air.The house needs work, but can be a beautifully restored home with history!See NC State Historic Preservation Office & NC State Building code - Historic buildings - chapter 12.
