Definitely a surprise to find an airplane bungalow in rural Wyoming….

Not where I would have expected to see one either! It looks to be in good shape and has great bones. The original owner definitely went out of their way to find and build this distinct design and it seems to work in the beautiful Wyoming land!

I wonder if we’re going to start seeing them in a variety of surprising locations, now that we all know what they are called. Like when you learn a new word and suddenly it begins popping up in sentences.
Very nice house.

Cora,

If your looking for a textbook definition of an airplane bungalow, here it is. This is a great house, even with the front porch enclosed and those gorgeous columns embedded within the walls. Hopefully they are intact if someone wants to remove the porch enclosure and restore it back to the way it was.

Nice home for sure. I live in a townhouse and always yearn for more space between myself and neighbors but maybe not quite this much space.

I had to look it up. My first thought looking at all that land, was to build a landing strip for my son’s airplane. Then I looked up airplane bungalow.
.
In most accounts the special characteristic of “airplane” bungalows is a single room on the second floor, surrounded by windows, said to resemble the cockpit of an airplane, and designed as a sleeping room in summer weather with all-around access to breezes.

I love everything about this house! Not in a situation to move, but if I could something like this might be it!

The unfortunate thing here is that they enclosed the front porch with that modern enclosure which totally clashes with the style of the building. Like Jeff said, hopefully they are still there and enclosed is the modern atrocity which encroached upon this unique structure.
