OOOOH! Very nice and spacious! Love all those large windows but I have lived in Nebraska and those winters can be harsh with strong winds.

But point well taken. Those harsh midwest winters can be brutal.

I know this style isn’t that popular with commenters on this site, but for me it doesn’t get better than this. This postwar confidence in new ideas is inspiring. Move this house to Arizona or Idaho and I’d buy it. Except it would be a million and a half $ easy. Two million in Denver.

Agreed… this is a phenomenal example of its genre. And it appears to retain a lot of its original furnishings! It’s hard to find houses of this era which are still intact down to the original finishes and fixtures. I love the light fixture over the incredible kitchen dinette and the outrageous wall sconces in the hallway. God forbid that anyone other than a MCM adherent who is seriously dedicated to preservation buys this house…

I think you would be surprised how many of us here appreciate this style, especially when it’s done right and is well preserved. This home certainly fits the bill, as you said. The style is wildly popular here in the northwest and would sell very quickly. I love the kitchen! I only wish it still had its original appliances.

Ha. I’m one of those that doesn’t always come come in here to look at these. Yes, I don’t like this style usually but still I do like to see if it really hasn’t changed since it was built. I am also impressed with these era homes that somehow survive without radical changes and become total time capsules. So in that sense I love this. I feel like no matter what decade styles are your favorite, it would be great when houses this well preserved in their decade trend get respected and preserved for future generations to enjoy by the new owners.

Wow this is an amazing mid century and I sure hope the right people end up with it. Could be a showcase home! If someone rips out that kitchen I’m coming after them!

I drove past Metropolis, Ill this December in my RV. It’s near Springfield, KY, one of the towns which was devastated by tornadoes. I wish this place had been listed then as I’m on a nation wide search for a new place and MCM is on the top of my list. For me it brings up the question of architecture vs. location. Will I move somewhere unknown to me that’s hot and sticky in the summer just because I love the house? This is often an issue with these fabulous houses.
