Located in the Highlands, The Rising Sun, An innovative Japanese-influenced residential design by Ralph Adams Cram, an INFLUENCER of Frank Lloyd Wright. Cram's design of the Rising Sun is a seminal Japanese Arts and Crafts house listed on the Massachusetts Historic Register. Situated on a 1/2 acre, this uniquely charming home was built in 1894 with exacting attention to detail. This notable historic house has many features as well as future possibilities. Beamed ceilings, beautiful woodwork, a skylighted central staircase, 4 working fireplaces, home offices on both the 2nd and 3rd floors, as well as 6 bedrooms . Hardwood floors throughout the home, a Japanese teahouse, and signed carved wooden panels, are just a few of the features of this intriguing home. Constructed by the Japanese technique known as KANAWA TSUGI which doesn't use nails but bonds wood to wood. It is built so well that the original solid Walnut doors still exist over 127 years.
