This house does seem to date from the 1840’s and is a regional type of home sometimes referred to as a “I” house because of its form having a chimney at either end of a rectangular shaped house. I looked on the map and indeed, it’s on the outskirts of Richmond which reinforces the probability that this area could be heavily redeveloped in the near future. The large one and a third acre lot should keep heavy redevelopment at bay at least for a while. The house interior is like a blank canvas awaiting someone with creativity and vision to transform it into something special while respecting the remaining period details. I see a very nice house with potential at this price.
It will be interesting to see if this home will be restored or bulldozed. Buyers for this area tend to have deep pockets, custom builders, & good tastes & the asking price seems to be comparable for a single lot. The street view isn’t particularily impressive but it’s the houses that you CAN’T see that are stunning. Hopefully, a restoration minded buyer will come along & bring this house back to it’s former glory & simplicity.
The zip code may share with Henrico (County) VA but the property is located in Goochland County.
I live right around the bend from this property. I bought 3 acres with 2 small houses on it about 5 years ago. Not because the 2 homes were appealing, but because the location couldn’t be better. There is actually limited opportunity for development in this area and a River Road address is highly sought after. It’s a beautiful area with beautiful homes. Richmond is minutes away to the east, with nothing but horses and farmland to the west. The area is very rural in feel, with a number of beautiful private school campuses sprinkled throughout. The housing developments in existence are spacious and upper end, with lots of fabulous historical homes as well. The one thing that would stop me from buying my favorite properties on this site is usually the bad location or the eyesores nearby. This property has none of that. It’s a fantastic location at an unbelievable price. If it had been on the market 5 years ago, I’d have bought it in a heartbeat and restored it.

Appears it was demolished.
I just looked at the ariel google map and the link you provided. Yup. That place is GONE! And something tells me there was no salvage and it was all crushed to the ground!
