I like the delicate fretwork around the staircase which makes me think it was locally made rather than sourced from a millwork catalog. I also like the tin ceiling which may or may not be original. Much of the millwork appears to be unpainted which so will surely appreciate. I also like the marble topped bathroom vanity which although not too old, looks great here. Overall, this has the look of a well preserved home of the period.

    • I agree. It lightens my heart to see when the beauty that was initially created when the home was constructed is respected and maintained. The millwork is a lost art and should be appreciated in it’s original form. I am not so much a fan of painted wood, nor a fan of carpeting especially in an old home. Area rugs that show the lovely wood around are brilliant! As enhancements rather than covering the beautiful flooring entirely. I have also never understood carpeting in kitchens, laundry, baths and dining areas.

You used to be able to buy that lamp that is on the newel at a Van Dykes catalog I believe. Called “The Torch Bearer”

I don’t always log in when I’m looking, but I just HAD to for this one. So very nicely kept. I really hope that someone who truly appreciates it buys it.

Wow! The house has been in the same family for over 100 years! That is amazing. Little wonder this house looks lived in and loved.
