Victorian Mansion in Hilo Hawaii Journey across the old wooden bridge onto “Reeds Island”. A finger of lava separated by a river and a stream. capt. William H. Reed, an English sea Captain, helped Kamehameha unite the islands. He subdivided the island into lots, with # 8 Ka’iulani, being the first house on Reeds Island The lion statues greet you at the entry to the property, which is a flagshape lot. Drive down the lined row of 100 ft palm trees up to the Hemmeter gates, brought from Italy. Drive around the cobblestone driveway and 3-tier water fountain to the front door. Guard dog statues at the entry. The home was built in exterior redwood, and interior pine. The original wood work in the living room and dining room are a carpenter’s dream!
