There are more listing photos on the agency site but it’s the same apartments/baths, nothing special to look at. It is such a beautiful building, glad it’s on the National Register!

What a superb looking building, at least on the exterior. Sadly the interior pales in comparison to the exterior. It needed someone who had a little knowledge of the architecture and could have done the inside right.

This is typical of a contractor or “investor” property. Just a some more money spent with a competent architect or designer could yield great returns. Rents would be higher, & tenants
happier. Its not uncommon unfortunately. It appears they kept the original windows though, hooray!

Glad to see this repurposed rather than torn down but I was really, really hoping to see a more charming, sensitive approach to the conversion. So spacious and would benefit from someone with a more classical touch. The row houses across the street are historical in themselves and a combined effort could make this end of town so appealing.

John A. Dempwolf (1848-1926) was a very talented architect whose firm designed most of the substantial buildings in York for decades. We’ve seen a few of his house designs on OHD including his own home, one of my favorites.
