    Gorgeous! What a dream house!!!

    • hi there:). i’m the owner of the Grey Lady, and did the restoration. Thank you so much for the kind words!! we love her too, hate to sell her, but that was always the original intention:). it’s a magnificent house, it’s true, the pictures don’t do it justice.

To whomever did the restoration on this beautiful house – MWAH! It’s just beautiful. This is one of those houses that just grabs you and makes you want to move in. What is it about old houses that can bring up such strong feelings?

    • OMG:). thank you. that would be me:). it actually took about six months to complete 99 percent of it, since then, it’s been a few little things here and there. You would not believe what kind of shape she was in just a year ago at this time. It was so sad, but I had to save her!

What a nice home, inside and out. Many thanks to the owners for not painting all that glorious interior woodwork!

    • oh thank you! yes, we knew we were never going to paint that glorious woodwork. but it took forever. we meticulously sanded every inch of everything — the trim, the columns, the doors, the staircase (omg, the staircase — which was painted), then cleaned, stained and finished. it turned out amazing for 130 year wood. doesn’t look “new” obviously, but looks amazing. It was a labor of love!!

What a beauty! The renovation in a period of a year is amazing. They did a superb job. I love the natural wood. I’ve never seen fireplaces like the 2 that are built out into the room – one’s green and the other has mirrors. They’re beautiful. I wish it were in GA!

  6. Thank you so much! did most of the work myself, but did bring in contractors to help with certain things here and there as necessary (plumbing and electrical, mostly). But, we took our time and wanted to make certain it was done right, restored what we could and matched with new where we were forced with no other choice. the floor was professionally refinished. Yes, the fireplaces (all 3 original to the home) are beautiful. the dining room is my favorite with the black walnut hand carved columns, but yes, the other two, particularly the mirrored one, is beautiful. It had more “ornate detailing” but at some point someone removed it?? unfortunately, we had no way really to match it, so we kept the shadow of where it used to be. the closets in this house are to die for. old houses usually have no storage. You could live in the closets in this place.
