Welcome to one of The Island's most beautifully preserved midcentury homes with all the modern-day comforts. The grid-patterned brise-soliel (sunscreen) and the "upside-down" floor plan make the house iconic. Designed by Irving Phillips, the house boasts an elevated second floor giving a view of the bay through floor-to-ceiling windows, while the sunscreen helps shade the interior from the western sun. Amazing sunsets. Large primary suite is up, while most bedrooms are down, including a 2nd primary suite. Updates include the entire electrical system, plumbing, new roof, and HVAC. The master suite saw a complete renovation adding a walk in closet, built in cabinets, a full bath, and a dedicated office. Large lot would be ideal for a pool, while still maintaining yard. Plenty of off street parking. Garage has been finished air conditioning. Original features include teak panels on the 2nd floor, built in cabinets and fireplace. Ask agent for update list. See virtual tour for more pics.

    1901 Folk Victorian
    Chestatee, GA

Why are the owners moving?! They have fully embraced living in such an unusual home! Their decor is fantastic! I dare someone to top it!

    Open house Sunday, November 22 between 12:00pm – 2:00pm.

I’m torn between this being International or Contemporary. I’m leaning toward International, it’s one of those styles we don’t see often here and some tend to blend into Contemporary. Hmm.

    • Kelly, Have enjoyed your site for years. This is my first post. I have friends whose family owns this MCM. They have bought a Victorian in Galveston. What a change from MCM to Victorian. Keep up the great finds you post it has been a Godsend through this pandemic. John

    • Long time lurker, first time poster. I love your site! This is my friend’s house!!! I have been there several times. I thought it was a coincidence at first. LOL

Before this house, they had an old victorian. They’re going back to the old neighborhood in Galveston. So crazy to open this up & see a house I’ve been in!

I love every single thing about this house, full stop. The color, the light, the amazing decor. The only thing I’d need to do is get them to empty their closets.

That blue in the kitchen is wonderful. I could live with that, and the house is amazing, and yes I too love the way the current owners live here. REALLY like the Kandinsky/Miro bathroom paper. Bookmarking this one.

No love for Queen Liz? She’s my favorite along with the turquoise kitchen.

1885 KY farm center chimney cape style

To be quite honest, the front facade of the house made it first appear to me as an office building and am not a fan of it. The rest of the house, well that is another story entirely! Vibrant is the word that leaps to mind. Their style is truly what makes this house outstanding. It will be hard for someone else to equal or surpass in my opinion. Totally looks to be move-in ready with nothing to do.

Would love to see a picture of the Victorian the owners purchased. Also, pictures of how they decorate it.

Often when I see a MCM home where the owners haven’t embraced MCM, I think “You need turquoise!” and this house delivers and then much more!!!….

I almost didn’t click on this because it reminded me of the grade school I went to in California. But, because it reminded me of that I did click and I’m so glad I did. The insides of the house is incredible!
