National Register Property

27012 Johnson Creek Rd, Crisfield, MD 21817

Historic "Makepeace" is a one of a kind treasure, listed on the National Historic Register. Patented in 1678 to John and Sara Roach, the dwelling was probably built 1727 or after. In more recent years, it has been owned by the Sterling family, including local artist, Kirk Sterling, Sr. Please refer to documents for additional information. The house features 5 fireplaces, LR, DR, and Kitchen, 2nd floor bedroom, and a woodstove in the Artists loft/office on the second floor. Flemish bond brick patterns on the west and east end walls, are a stunning architectural feature. The exterior walls are over 1 ft. thick, and the fireplace hearths are 6 ft. There are some serious repairs needed, however. The dining room floor is sagging over 6 inches in some areas, indicating deteriorated floor joists, and there is not much access under the house. The kitchen needs floor repair and many of the bottom cabinets are missing. There is no heat on the second floor. This house will not qualify for any traditional mortgages. Sold "AS IS". Any inspections must be done prior to making an offer at the buyer's risk. All appointments must be made with the listing agent directly.
