Noble apartment with frescoed ceilings in Arcevia.

Arcevia is a lovely medieval town in the Le Marche region, located amongst green rolling hills and mountains. The natural park Gola della Rossa, with its beautiful mountains and nature is near Arcevia. In this environment, just a few steps from the tiny square of Arcevia, there is a beautiful noble apartment, dating back to the 1800s, of about 240 sq.m., fully decorated with frescoed ceilings and with a lovely terrace for al fresco dinners.

The noble apartment is typically divided into rooms in a row, while in a separate area, there is space for a kitchen and a big storage room. In the noble area, all the rooms feature perfectly preserved frescoed ceilings and each room has a different theme. As you enter the apartment, you have a large entrance hall, which could be used as a first living room.

As you step forward, you enter the Athena room, a beautiful area, with frescoed ceilings and wall, evoking a neoclassical style, and once used as a ballroom. Today, this room could be used as a second living room, where you can relax in the winter, sitting in front of the fireplace with a good glass of Rosso Conero wine.

After this room, is a row of 3 rooms, ideal as 3 spacious bedrooms. The atmosphere here is very relaxing, thanks to the light colours and the graceful images used to paint the ceilings. In the same area, there is a room which could be used as a large dining room, with access to a passageway room, big enough to set a rich library of ancient and contemporary books. Beyond this room is a spacious bathroom. In the non-noble area, there is a kitchen and a large storage room, all in stone, thus guaranteeing the perfect temperature to store food.

The property is full of charm and beauty. It needs some renovation and the layout can easily be modified, to obtain a more functional arrangement of the rooms, according to modern standards. Surrounded by the walls, there is also a lovely terraced courtyard, where you can enjoy lovely al fresco dinners with your guest, or just chill out in the evening, with some good music and a glass of wine. A garage and a cellar at ground floor level are part of the property.

This is a unique chance to live in a quiet environment, surrounded by art, comfort and peace. Arcevia is a lovely place to live in total relaxation, but it still offers all the services family may need. Especially in the summer, many historical and food & wine events are organised in Arcevia and its surroundings.

Ahhh… Trip down memory lane. My Grandfather (Nonno) is from this region! The Italian neighborhood we grew up in, in Connecticut called the people from the Marche region, the Marchigiano’s I remember when I was a kid. They had a different tasting pasta sauce which my sister and I thought was disgusting. We used to call it sweet sauce. We loved my Nonna’s (grandmothers) pasta sauce better. She was Napoli.

  2. Perfect timing. DH and I are looking for a retirement place in Le March and Umbria. We had to put the in-person research on hold since we haven’t been able to travel because of the virus. It would have been helpful to see more pictures of the outside. I love that the rooms are enfilade. There seems to be a side hall as there usually is but not sure. We not interested in going through one bedroom to get to the next. $300K is cheaper than a place on the ocean in Florida.

  5. This is so amazing, its always a treat to see an Italian apartment, plain and assuming on the outside then open the door and BAM! I love this so much.

The frequent use of “noble” in the description makes me wonder if this is a flat on the “piano nobile” (2nd floor) of a larger building. The piano nobile is where the public rooms are located, and these certainly seem to fit the bill.

It’s quite a work of art. Imagine all the time that went in to painting these room? It looks as if they took the kitchen with them, a common practice in Europe as I understand.

after 5 months of COVID, I am ready to leave and live in this beautiful apartment! Less than an hour to get to the Adriatic coast? I’m sold.
