If this grand lady was not in Kansas I would snap her up in a heartbeat.i quite literally starting yelling over that entry way with the room under the stairs!!!!! Just breathtaking, I love every inch!

Has anyone ever seen an under-stairs nook with a bench in it like this before? I certainly don’t remember seeing one.
I LOVE that understairs nook! SO unique and special!!!
OK, I’m not hallucinating… there is a bathroom with pocket doors. (Had to check three times.) Hmm, must be a first. Was the room something else before? Wonderful wood everywhere. Padded benches at the top and bottom of the lovely stairs, and under them too. That little phone room is way cool. Only thing I’d do is get a new oven and microwave, and have a kitchen in monolithic white. This place is Vic-glorious!
For a small town, Burlingame has a surprising amount (more than its fair) share of incredible old houses. The staircase in this one is especially fun!
I’m ready to move in right now, honestly. So many great details!
This makes the favorite list. Love that midget room!

Man, there are a lot of really nice old homes in Kansas for stunningly low prices. That old chestnut, “location, location, location”, certainly appears to be true.
Burlingame is a small town of less than 1000, but it is only 40 minutes from Topeka. Not a bad location, actually.
Love this one with all its nooks and crannies!! That is one skinny hallway upstairs though– getting furniture down to the rooms would be a nightmare!
What a WONDERFUL house!! Love everything about it, especially the ‘little touches’ and finishings! Well worth the price!!!
What a gorgeous house. The woodwork is amazing. I also love that little nook under the steps, which the arched entry.

Almost makes me want to move to Kansas. This house has a lot of charm. Looks like it sits across from a park but I think it must be the enormous lots. Love the Harry Potter sitting room. I bet that phone works. Agree would have to replace the stove and microwave. Might have to look at the location. Hmmm. ??

So, I can’t find the listing. It says Berkshire Hathaway listed it but Realtor.com shows the old listing and it says off market…

The status doesn’t automatically update on OHD and with over 1000 active listings cannot be checked everyday.

No, I was on Realtor.com. The price is the $40k and the new listing isn’t active. The I went to the agents site. The listing is not active. Maybe due to Covid? I will look again later. But thank you Kelly.

That is not the price that’s just an estimate of what Realtor thinks it’s worth but their algorithm is worse that Zillow Zestimate.

Good morning Kelly. The $40k price is an ‘Assessment Value’ from the county based on it’s original sale from years ago and the local assessments. This beautiful home has been listed 3 times since 2015. Starting at $200k, $185k, $195k. But..the home has been removed from market. Perhaps the owners changed their minds due to the virus. Perhaps they decided to stay where they are for the time being. I’ve been a Realtor for 30 years and the estimate of value is based on condition and recent sales. This home is worth every bit of the $195k. We are just in a very strange time for sellers. Not only are they concerned about people walking through their homes but also, where and how are they going to move. Thanks for the update on this wonderful home. And yes, Zillow is never up to speed on value and sales. 😀
