This grand brick Victorian mansion is in immediate need of roof repairs. Never remuddled or updated, it has all of its original features. Amazing entrance doors and tile vestibule, huge plaster medallions, working pocket doors, fireplace surrounds and overmantles, original tiles, large rooms and plenty of them. The large stand-up attic, perhaps an ideal master suite or home theater, has never been finished. The rear property line abuts a planned “village green.”
Druggist Fred Clarke purchased the lot in 1886 and finished his home soon thereafter. Five sons were born here to Fred and his wife Ellen. Fred Clarke passed in 1916 at the age of sixty-four. Ellen then traveled extensively, passing in 1930 at the age of 80.
