Old listing photos from 2015 before some of the changes:

The owners had a FB page going, last post 2017: https://www.facebook.com/Our1885Italianate/

I looked at the fb page as well. It is like the comments just all stopped in Dec. 2017! The (previous) owners state on their page that the home has gone through several owners, and a look at the sales history sure shows it! It would be really interesting to know exactly WHY this beautiful home cannot seem to keep a family. Did you by chance send a message through the facebook page to get any extra history?

wow nice woodwork inside. I think the woodwork is probably sporting its original varnishes and got really dark and dirty over the years. That can be cleaned with some elbow grease. But I sure hope no one paints it.

Looks like there was aluminum siding on the house at one time that someone took off except for the area where all the wires are on the first level.

So sad and sorry that the previous owners had to give up their journey to restore this house. God bless them for their heartfelt work and their blood sweat and tears. The exterior looks amazing!

After looking at their facebook page I am so sad now. They had such dreams for this house. I hope the next person to buy this beautiful old girl loves her as much as they did.

  5. I guess I’m moving to Iowa! My gosh, this is a beautiful house! Does anyone think there might have been a belvedere on this house originally?

The house is impressive, especially the great trim on the interior. Another Iowa beauty at a great price!

  7. Am selling my house this year and seeking an historical home. Been searching this site. I did inquire regarding some of the Iowa homes I have found that are lovely. But the agents are less than helpful…getting discouraged.

Lower priced homes tend to have a lot of calls, sometimes agents get a little swamped. You can try calling another local agent that is not the selling agent, they may be able to give a showing.
