Step back in time with this mid century time capsule. So legit that it's been recently used for the set of movies and films. Once the home of the lovely Helen and Edward who enjoyed over 42 years of love and friendship together and raised two precocious children. When they weren't busy hitting golf balls and playing tennis at the Cottonwood Club, they developed and managed numerous commercial properties across Salt Lake as well as founded several international merchandise businesses. Their home, a modern masterpiece, was the hub of many social gatherings and bridge tournaments, with Helen earning the designation of Life Master bridge player. Signs of a life well-lived are everywhere... from the numerous bowling trophies lining the shelves, the decor and trinkets from their travels across the globe, to the library filled with old, worn, well-read books. The energy of the home sizzles and the walls tell stories of glitz, glamour, joy and laughter. This home although dated and needs much love and renovation, has the bones of an absolute work of art and is crying to be restored to her full potential and previous glory days. However, regardless of the fate of this home, the grounds alone are worth the pricetag... one acre in the most coveted neighborhood in all of Salt Lake, with the added bonus of a seasonal stream which flows along the length of the backyard adding peace and magic to the air. The possibilities of what could be created here are beyond exciting, and if the lucky visionary who buys this estate wants to invite me over someday for drinks and a game of bridge, I'll be sure to wear my shiny pants and bring a plate of brownies!

I know this house well, i grew up on Walker Lane. This area back in the day was known for its prestige, wealth and the who’s who of the Salt Lake City area. Unfortunately a lot of these homes in the area have been torn down, lots sub-divided and and private lanes with multiple home created over the years. If you look at the map Kelly included in her link, Cottonwood Lane branches off Walker to the south & to the north, which they have listed as 2375 E, is also known as Cottonwood Lane. There use to be so many classic homes the oozed with wealth and power on these streets, now they are almost gone, torn down and replaced by modern monstrosities. I really hope that someone saves this one, but like the rest of the area, it will be dozed and several more homes will take its place.

What a shame to see that happen to your childhood neighborhood; especially when your childhood neighborhood was as special as I’m sure this one once was.

This house has very good mid-mod architectural qualities. WELL worth saving. Surely there are some young folks in Salt lake with and appreciation of mid-mod sensibilities who will embrace and enhance it; and hopefully not even subdivide the property.

I’ll say a little prayer to my favorite saint for it’s recommend. 😉

That is one of the best listing descriptions I’ve ever read. It made me want to buy the house before I even scrolled down to the pictures. I think the realtor makes it clear that in their opinion this house should not be a tear down, and indeed I hope it survives intact! If I were in a position to do so I would buy it lock, stock, and barrel and live my fantasy life!

    Vancouver BC,

I’ve been lurking here for awhile and signed up literally for THIS house .. it is just like my childhood home. I love this place! If I weren’t locked down here in Canada, I would go see this home 🙂

I feel as if I’ve wandered onto a movie set or into a 1969 issue of House Beautiful!

  7. It must have been so much fun to hold and attend parties here. How could anyone see it and not want to preserve it?
