Dream home material for me. I fantasize about a midwestern farm house in just this condition with no updates that have to be un-done and with a big old barn and surrounded by fields.

Much could be done to enhance the visual appeal of the exterior. That “Rocket ship” of a newel post is especially nice and someone has made an effort to strip and re-stain some of the millwork. I like the floral carved corner blocks-we have the same in one of our rooms. The gambrel roofed barn obviously needs some help but has such a nice design that I believe it would be worth keeping. (thinking artist’s studio, workshop, or whatever creative purpose would work best for the next owner)
I suspect if an old photo could be found, it would show a much more ornamental home than what we see now. Might be the perfect place for country living with a Victorian flair.

This is a nice one with many pluses. Love the stairs.(Is that candy stripe carpet in that bedroom?)It has the coveted garage space that my husband needs as well as the cool barn.

I clicked on this house first today just hoping it hid stuff like this. That newel post is cut like a gem and the curved rail is special. My thoughts echo John’s above: wonderful details inside (those doors!) and an exterior begging for some original flourishes. Check out the little arched attic windows. But that porch. Something seems missing in the walk up to the front door.

Also save the barn, they are already more rare than the farmhouses and they are falling daily.
