You’d think with the exposed beams in the large room that maybe a wall was taken out, but the NRHP form indicates otherwise. Those floorboards are amazing. Built for 19th century “real estate speculator” John Dutton (1780-1850).

Seriously? Twenty acres! And that outstanding fireplace as well as those floors. The setting is as beautiful as the house is!

Oddly, the fireplace looks later: old, but later.

John’s right about those gorgeous floors. Mmmmmm, mmmm, mmmm.

I wonder about the stair rail = ?

    Neat place!

Nice house and property. Wouldn’t it be satisfying to replace the odd lot of windows with what the NPS nomination says were the eight over twelve, of which a few remain. This is a fairly simple Federal, the upper Master’s bedroom (I am assuming) having the most detailed millwork. I love how it is sited on a rise….lovely.

  6. In all honesty can anyone tell me if there is some glaring reason this place is $189k
Is it on an old Indian graveyard or a toxic mining strip or some other anomoly ….because if not I’m going for it.

As usual, the answer is supply and demand and location.

Whenever a house appears here that gets the “what a bargain” – bear in mind that the realtor is probably more aware of the local market than most of us.

$189,000 for 20+ acres is great, throw in that house & it’s really great! I believe I would want to clear some trees out around the house, make room for a big yard & a garden spot.
