Italianate style homes are often noteworthy for their fine staircases which sometimes curve and wind as they go up. It looks like in this house the original staircase was altered and enclosed long ago. That said, a fair number of original period details remain along with a modest asking price. Depending on the location, this might make for a nice period home. The nearby railroad tracks could be problematic for some folks.

Sad to see the stairs altered, obviously to adapt it for multi-family. Would the current location of the stairs have been it’s original location? I would have expected them to come down towards the main entry.

Without being able to see the house in person, its a little difficult to determine the exact original staircase location and configuration. In photo No. 7 from the top, looking through the paired doors opening, it appears there’s the back side of a stairwell. The current enclosed staircase is likely far more recent, perhaps from the mid-20th century. Not likely for it to be in the original location. There’s enough old derelict Italianates around (Cincinnati comes to mind) still facing demolition that a replacement staircase could probably be found, salvaged, and reinstalled. Careful measurements would be required but the end result would surely be worth the effort.

Pretty Italianate that brings plenty of exterior charm with an opportunity for some interior improvements while keeping what remains from 1877. The street-facing windows are a nice element representative of the style in terms of form, fenestration, and detail. The low price is balanced by the location. The giant tower with all those guy wires would be more of a deterrent for me than the RR track. Then again, 20 something me would love being next to a neighborhood bar and across the street from a drive through liquor store. 2009 streetview shows a next door building that was razed to provide a little separation.
