Pleasant Queen Anne style house here that is a skip away from Johnston’s downtown and about a block away from a high school. The intricate gingerbread-laden wrap around porch needs a little TLC but is well worth keeping. I believe the reflective roof may indicate stamped metal shingles. With an occasional paint touch up, they will last indefinitely. I’m a bit puzzled about the mantles; the one with the mirror above it looks like it could date from 1910 or later while the one with incised and applied rosettes seems like it could date from as early as 1890. Split the difference and it comes up 1900 so the date is probably correct. Create some formal landscaping and a white picket fence like the adjacent neighbor has and you have a Victorian home that dreams are made of. All of this on a half acre lot for a modest $45K! A tour through the downtown oozes charm as well. I like this one.

This would be a fun restoration project. I would have fun for the first week just going through the things being left with the house. There are some nice antique pieces being left, like the old radio. There’s lots of character here also with the transoms over the doors and wainscoting along with 5 fireplaces. Great buy!
