The Comstock House is a very well known landmark in the Central Vermont region. Run as a family farm for many generations, the residence and land has been most recently run by the present owners as a successful bed and breakfast. Uniquely suited to either continuance as a bed and breakfast or providing a fabulous family residence in the wonderful community of Plainfield. A complete and total renovation/restoration included moving the house away from the road and onto a new foundation. Great care was taken to preserve original fabric while incorporating all new systems including heating, wiring and plumbing. A nostalgic sense of old rural Vermont permeates all the living spaces due to original flooring and periods colors. Expert local craftsmen produced the millwork and kitchen cabinetry using local species of wood. The setting of the residence is nothing short of extraordinary. Mature specimen trees were retained during the move and new plantings and flower beds were established. The long distant views to the west are of the Worcester Range with hills and valleys in between, all of which is viewed from most rooms and from the rear deck. All this while looking over the fertile fields and well managed woodlands. Located minutes from Plainfield Village, the property is 20 minutes to Montpelier. A truly outstanding house and property.
