Always dreamed of owning a Church? Here's a rare opportunity to own a historic Church & separate Meeting House for an exceptional, affordable price. Both zoned residential and located directly across a small road from one another, the Church makes an inspiring ARTIST'S STUDIO with its wide open space, soaring ceiling & soft even light created by pale stained glass windows. Solid paneled wood interior doors, beautiful wood floors & light stained diagonally paneled bead board walls add character. You'll find the bell still in the belfry! Live across the road in a 1913 former schoolhouse, currently a large open space with 2 half baths a commercial kitchen and utility room. Would easily convert to a charming open plan home. Both sold as is. Church has heat and electric, no water or septic. Well and septic across the road in the Meeting Hall. Meeting Hall on .36 acres. Needs new water pump. Utilities are off. 2 min to the Taconic Parkway entrance. 10 minutes to Hudson, 2.5 hr to Brooklyn.

I don’t believe the graveyard is included but how nice would it be to have such great neighbors? I’m not seeing a drive or even room for a driveway for the church but the other building and land is across the way with parking enough.

An absolute bargain in this neighborhood.

I’ve always thought it’d be cool to live in an old small church (with a steeple, of course) although perhaps somewhere a bit more temperate. Heating such a place in northern climes (like NY) would get expensive in the fall and winter. Of course one solution would be to divide the nave into smaller rooms, but then it wouldn’t feel like living in a church.

The Methodist Episcopal Church of West Taghkanic, built in 1863 at a cost of $6500. Doesn’t appear to have been altered much at all. I’d leave the church alone and fix up the school to live in.

The mysterious Taghkanic Basketmakers lived in this area, now better known for a nice highway, a state park and an iconic Diner.

There are 3 buildings on the property. It only mentions the two is there a subdivision that is happening?
