Build date on record shows 1903 but this is anywhere from 40-50(ish) years older than that.

A gorgeous exterior, although it looks like two windows in the front were abandonded.

It’s possible they were always “dummy” windows and might have had permanently closed shutters in them originally. Sometimes they included such faux windows just for exterior symmetry.

I wonder where in the house this is located and if you could remove the boards and make actual windows?

I totally agree on the build date, beautiful place. Very peaceful and green, with no neighbor crammed up next to you. I love that red barn and would keep that paint color forsure. Not sure if the entrance with two doors is the front but guessing so. One door to the foyer and another to the parlor for that special guest. I never used to understand that but now have an appreciation for it. Great house!

In Minnesota our 100 year old farmhouse had 2 doors coming in from the enclosed front porch…one into the dining room, the other into the large living room. That was known as the “preachers door”.

Sharon Springs, now faded, used to be a summer resort spa town similar but smaller than the better known Saratoga Springs. I noticed that this rural house is some distance from the actual Sharon Springs so it should be fairly tranquil here. The price seems reasonable considering the house comes with over 23 acres of land. I agree with others that the house likely dates from the 1870’s. 1903 could be the most recent date of remodeling. The pair of entry doors with smaller panes on the margins, likely date from this later period.

Really lovely home. The wall papered room was a bit overwhelming, but that could be solved fairly easily. Like the barn as well. Would be the peaceful area I’m looking for. Hmmm…
