I think we are at a point where I can stop putting “Canada” in the title. United States and Canadian listings are on OHD, overseas on the OHD Overseas site: link.

I have to search through EVERY Canadian listing since there’s not the option to search by build date, it gets overwhelming which puts me off from doing it. Eventually I’ll find the right groove and do a better job at posting more. πŸ™‚

          • From this property we are several hours driving and a ferry ride north in Prince Edward Island. I know this region; It is a beautiful remote shoreline, though three hours from Halifax and the highly regarded medical teaching facilities of Dalhousie University.

The property is not far from Digby which has the most succulent scallops plus ferry service to St. John, New Brunswick, a treasure trove of early 19th C neighborhoods. It’s a Dicksonian looking city on a steep hill overlooking the Bay of Fundy.

Beautiful. I hope someone can bring it back to life. Where is the front door? Is it behind the center windows?

There’s a lot of cool stuff in this house. I love the cool lino, and that awesome MCM sofa, and that neat spaceship light fixture in the dining room, and also the blue bathroom!

Cool place…Don’t know why but this is the style house I think of when someone says Nova Scotia! Also, thanks for the note about the OHD Overseas…I did not know there was a separate site now!

Those are some seriously STEEP steps! Love the uniqueness of this house. Too bad I’m not in the fixer-upper mood anymore! Sigh……

Intriguing house. In the last photo it looks like the gable roof was added over and older (original?) semi-flat roof. My guess would be that the front “tower” was also added where the front door was originally. And is that the original front door moved up to the third floor? If only houses could tell you what happened to them.

Seems rather spartan inside compared to U.S. versions of this size and age but then its priced accordingly. The next owner needs to bring his or her creative talents to make this house more interesting inside. Nice newel post, a touch of stained glass and some basic Victorian millwork provide a theme to work with.

This house has such a unique exterior. And the view across the road is wonderful. I traveled down the street view and saw some French signage so I googled the location and it’s a French speaking Acadian village. My high school French was more years ago than I’d care to admit, but I still remember a few verses of a French drinking song and some great pronunciation sentences like, La salade est sur le table. Not sure how far that would get me. The interior does need a bit of love, but there’s great potential here. I’d love to get an oversized cushy chair and ottoman in front of that third floor window and gaze at the view or curl up there with a good book.
