    I don’t think the kitchen is original. I don’t see any evidence of where another kitchen was located, so I believe the existing kitchen was either expanded or completely replaced. Its also possible the small bathroom was added at the same time as the kitchen.

    Nice woodwork and floors. I’m not sure about the kitchen either, but otherwise this seems to be a very nice home. I would probably do something different with the ceilings, but that’s just me.

    I’m guessing that the relative openness of the downstairs layout will appeal to some contemporary fashion-conscious buyers – if so, I hope they will manage to keep their hands off the paintbrush when it comes to that beautiful woodwork…

    I agree with you Barbara. Leave the woodwork as is. And for goodness sakes, no wallpaper on plaster walls. Yikes!
    Other than the kitchen and bathrooms, this is a gorgeous home. I think more than a few would like the updated kitchen. Plus, it might inspire new owners into restoring the home to its original glory.
