Gorgeous! I wish it weren’t right on the road, although that will make it easier to dig out during those upstate NY snowstorms. Love the high ceilings, windows, floors. Are those wood or pergo in the bathrooms? Such an airy, bright house!

So much earlier than 1877, possibly as early as the 1830’s or 1840’s. Lovely woodwork. I wish the photograph of the staircase was better. This appears to be a house originally heated by stoves. I don’t see any evidence of old fireplaces.

…except when the snowplow piles all the snow in front of home and drive way. It is a beautiful home. Would love to have the brass twin bed in that darling attic area. I would have no problem living in the home.

Wonder what it would cost to move the house further back on the property and put on a new foundation? Its a lovely old gal but too close to the road.

The location is the tiny hamlet of South Valley, Town of Roseboom in Otsego Co., about 10 miles south of Cherry Valley. In the 1800’s, there were businesses, 3 churches and dozens of homes here.
This looks like a typical late Greek Revival house until you see the unusual decorative details on the facade – very interesting. Nice yard too!

The orange with purple Queen Anne down the street is really wild:

I bet this house was built when roads were much narrower. But, maybe this road doesn’t get that much traffic. I wish the wood work wasn’t painted, but I love this house. The owners have great taste in furniture!
