    Oh my… Just when you think a house couldn’t get any better it does! I’m a sucker for a elegant, sinewy, sweeping staircase, and this one doesn’t disappoint.

    A stunningly handsome, wonderfully scaled, nearly mint 1840, Greek Revival, I house. Not the most sophisticated interior; but decor seems to be all that needs doing here. A VERY fine example of it’s kind. Wonderful.

      Most likely, we are seeing the original rail etc. shown here in the photographs.
      It’s not uncommon to see this more simple and (imo) still elegant execution of detail around here, in a home from this era.
      Very “Old Kentucky”.
      Love it !!

          I’m sorry, I’m not sure I can see what you’re referring to?
          I do see some possible evidence of paint removal on the treads at the location of the spindle bases and stair treads?
          In which picture are you seeing this?
