So much potential! Wish this was closer to work…
With a minimum of quality pictures its is difficult to form a clear idea about this home. What is shown, the house appears to be in decent shape. The back stairs and landing may suggest this house is a duplex or was. The kitchen doesn’t present much appeal but kitchens are really a simple project with a clear vision and follows a short list of suggestions when they tackle this project. The price does appear to say, its a candidate for a flip or a family dream home. Street view doesn’t show any commercial encroachment and that’s a big plus.
Pretty exterior. check out the street views….huge power lines on all sides, and (due to google patching together multiple frames) power lines over the street that appear to end in mid air! also it looks like wires go thru a tree across front yard to the pole to left of house; yikes

Just a distortion, they are normal power lines.
Cora’s right, lots of potential with this one. And at that price point you could really make it a show place!
Could be someone’s dream home at that price!
Yep. Working on trying to buy it now.
what an amazing stair rail setup. it appears those go from the stair right to the ceiling. coupled with the baronial paneling, it’s so striking. not much to dislike here.
With the dark wood, wall paint should be a light color to hi-light the wood. Could be really beautiful home.
Don’t let the “dark” woods mislead anyone. Under the darkened layers of shellac (which, like linseed oil, darkens with age) you quite likely have beautiful furniture grade Oak or other hardwoods. Outstanding house here for the price with a bonus mother-in-law’s cottage out in the back. (formerly for a cook/servant’s dwelling) I know very little about Ripley, TN, but if the surrounding community is decent this could be a real sleeper of a great old house. Put a nice period color scheme on the exterior and this house would really sing! I like this one.
There’s a cottage out back, too? I thought it was at the top of the stairs that are on the outside of the house. The Broker, when I asked for more details, just said, you’ll see when you get here. So, I guess I’m going to have some surprises! Yes, I’m going to go with period light fixtures, paint, rip up that carpet if there’s good hardwood under them. Fix the stain color on the trim in the dining room and finish putting up the hand made trim work the previous owners had done. Gonna love this house alive again. And that cottage, too, if there is one.

Congratulations on your efforts to check out and maybe buy this property. Apologies; I think I was mistaken about the external “cottage” because I do not see anything clearly outside the house in satellite view. (there is the outline of a roof under a tree close to the neighbor’s house) Good to hear you intend to restore the house and preserve its original character and details. For the price, it remains in the bargain category. Good luck!
All this house plus the house has local historical significance too. I have had the opportunity to see the inside in person, beautiful!! Needs some love and I am THRILLED that someone wants to give this old lady her sparkle again!!
The pending is me. Signing the closing documents and payment on 7/24. Monday afternoon It’s got a patch of structural issues that the inspector says could be addressed easily. I love this website and so glad I found it. Now I can renovate a Victorian house as I have dreamed of since I was a child

I am so thankful that someone that wants to bring this lovely lady back to life!! Would live to see your renovations!!
