Despite not seeing more of the home, the neighborhood would sell me!

The neighborhood is indeed beautiful, but the street view made me feel like this poor house is hiding herself. I hope someone clears the odd overgrowth and lets her shine again. πŸ™

I was thinking I bet the neighbors would help pull it down! πŸ˜€

I would agree about the overgrowth, particularly the vines growing on the house. While it may sound romantic, the fact is it will tear a house apart more that anything else! Just a look around the neighborhood, as Kelly remarked, will show you what the house should and could look like!

I love all the old fixtures like the doorknobs, window latches, and lights. And I absolutely love the arch (is it still called an arch if it’s pointed rather than curved?) over the opening in the fire place!

I don’t understand the plethora of beautiful detail photos without room pictures to give one a sense of the whole house. Oak Park is a very desirable town near Chicago and this place is really cool. I’d be putting in an offer if I could move back “home.”

Ditto to the above comments! Looks to be gorgeous, but leaves one wanting waaay more photos. And street and general neighborhood look lovely, too.

This was once the home of Fred Groen, who founded the namesake cookware manufacturing company.

This one is six blocks east of us.
    Ours was built in β€˜28
Our place has the exact same style of staircase, doors and door hardware.
A lot of the houses in Oak Park – River Forest have the Norma Desmond vibe.
Not too many haven’t been β€œ modernized β€œ though.
Once this one transfers to the next owners the taxes will attain the wonderful heights peculiar to our town.

Sorry it is 3:15 AM here it should be be Ashley403 posting__ Hi LouB and Everyone, Living in the neighbor hood can you tell if a developer back in the day when building these homes had a certain number of models to pick. Then the buyer than could pick from different things that were on the outside of each house(like in this case a square bay window) If this is true you could get an idea what the inside rooms look like from this house 4 doors down no it is not for sale and it has a semicircle bay. Comparing the two what a beautiful home you would have minus the vines:

I was mistaken the address numbers make it seem four doors down in reality it is next door to the house above. The last line above should be lots of hard work and minus the vines.

It’s obviously still hooked up to amenities (picture of fixture (light is on)) so I too am wondering why there are not more pictures of the rooms, this sure will be a beauty if someone buys this house soon.
